Birds & Blooms - Craftwork Cards Workshop

Back at the beginning of September, I made a last minute decision to attend a workshop at Craftwork Cards in Leeds.  I've been using their products for the past six years yet it was the first craft workshop I have ever been to!  I quickly realised I should probably have gone to workshops waaaay before now! I thoroughly enjoyed the morning with Jo and have come away with some lovely ideas and goodies to play with :D

I thought I'd share with you the projects we created on the day (not necessarily in the order we made them):

This card was made using a 6x6 blank, however we began by slicing the top inch off the card!  This created a strip which could then be used to make the step at the bottom of the card - I'd have never thought to do that! Decorated using the Birds & Blooms paper and toppers.  Mine ended up a little different to the design we were meant to be copying because I managed to stick my topper on upside down!! However, this did mean that it was a little of my own creativity sneaking through, and by leaving off the Happy Birthday sentiment it made a perfect Wedding Anniversary card for my parents! It was intentional really ;)

Next is another card using the Birds & Blooms collection.  The flower topper was cut out by hand and then tucked so that the leaves over hang the side panel.  I didn't quite finish this one as I didn't have time to add any glitter/liquid pearls and it be dry before we left.  It's now on my to-do pile to finish off :)

We also created some 3D projects.  Using distress ink we coloured three bird cage card fronts, and added liquid pearls and glitter to each.  I used White Opal liquid pearls and I think it was a denim blue ink.  Once the pearls had dried we attached each bird cage to one another using the little tabs on each side.  Then tied the tops together using white ribbon.  With a little artificial tea light candle in the middle these would made lovely table centerpieces.

Finally, we made a little bird house favour box.  I think this is just adorable!  The template was already cut out and patterned for you, we added a little heart attached with string to the heart window on one side.  On the roof the sentiment tag "With Love" was fixed with a ribbon and foam pads  (Thank you to Gill for rescuing me and tying the perfect bow for me!!)  Before the house was stuck together a hole was punched in the roof on the fold so that a hanging ribbon could be attached.

On the other side we added butterflies and birds.  You can just about see where the roof opens with velcro to get to the goodies inside (which are not in the favour box on the picture because I donated them to my other half!)

I had a wonderful morning, I am looking forward to booking to go on more workshops in the very near future!
