Puuuurrfect paws

Hello and welcome back

I have a quick card today that I made for my boyfriend's mum for mother's day.

It features an image from LOTV Happy Cat mini stamp set which I mounted onto a piece of black card and coloured in one cat and the patch on the second using black promarker.  I used black and white paw print paper from my local craft shop on the bottom corner, but thought it needed something more, so off I went hunting through my off cuts and patterned papers!  I found a strip of dotty paper that was left over from the pew ends I'd made for their wedding last year, slotted across the diagonal behind the image I thought this fit perfectly.  Finished off with the sentiment "To My Wonderful Mum" above the image, I was very happy with this card, as I hope was she!

Sorry I forgot..

Well, this post is well and truly late! But no worries, I have a card for that!

I realised that I had missed a friend's birthday so made this quick and gorgeous 4x4 card:

It features the LOTV Little Critters - Faraway Friends Elephant stamp and greetings "Sorry I forgot" and "Jumbo Wishes" from the same mini stamp set. The backing paper is from the Dovecraft Back to Basics monochrome paper pack.

I am currently in the midst of sorting out a new venture which I hope to share with you next week when I've had chance to play and get set up! Can't wait to share, I'm so excited about it, it feels like I'm a kid in a sweet shop!!

Think of me, think of me fondly...

Hello and Welcome back!

Today's cards are both 'Thinking of You' cards.  Sometimes they are sent as sympathy cards, other times they are just simply to let someone know they are in your thoughts.  Whatever the reason for sending, I hope the recipients know that, not only did the sender have them in their thoughts, but they were also in mine as I put my love into making them.

The first card of the day is made out of left overs from an old Craftwork Cards Black Magic goody box from way back in 2013 that I didn't realise I still had on my shelf!  Layered over a black backing card, I cut around the flowers on the patterned paper from the kit and added a silver 'Thinking of You' scalloped circle sentiment.  I added Platinum Pearl liquid pearl drops to the circles and hearts on the flower petals, and some Stickles glitter - which could be Star Dust, Crystal, Icicle, or Diamond...I really should make notes or share much sooner as my memory lately is terrible!!  I did, however, remember to take a close up shot so you can see the glitter and pearls (yay!):

My next card, uses the LOTV 'Little Critters - Happy Cat' mini stamp and sentiment.  As a cat person, I absolutely LOVE this image!  I backed the image with some papers from the (discontinued) Always and Forever paper pad.  Final touches were a black and pink flower, along with a gem centre for each, all picked up from the latest Craftwork Cards workshop I attended.

So there you have it.  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and bank holiday weekend.  I have to say I was very proud of myself, having given up chocolate for lent this year, I have so far managed not to over indulge (too much) over the Easter weekend!  Don't get me wrong I have been VERY tempted, but that's what all the hard work resisting temptation for the past nearly 7 weeks has all been about.  I did treat myself to a Freddo, or two, that my mum bought for me, though the egg is being saved for later...never too old for Easter chocolate from mum!

I am in the process of trying to get organised, so there should be some more blog updates coming your way soon!

Thanks for stopping by, take care

Gift Card Challenge

It's Good Friday, so what better day (evening) to share a blog update with all you lovely people!

As promised, I'm back with my gift cards!  I was so happy to be asked to make some for a colleague's other half.  All I can say is I hope they were as happy with them as I was making them!

The brief I was given was to make three gift cards to hold tickets, for a male turning 30.  All I knew was that they have dogs, and he likes football!  So, I decided to do three different designs, one specifically for a 30th birthday, one for football, and one for their love of dogs! Take a look at what I came up with:

Keeping it simple for the first one, a diagonally placed sheet of stars from the Dovecraft Back to Basics monochrome paper pack, finished off with large glitterations numbers for the big 30, and the LOTV long block sentiment "Happy Birthday".  I love the monochrome look, suitable for any one's special day, male or female...I just hope lads appreciate a tiny bit of sparkle every now and then ;)

For the football card, I chose the LOTV 'Little Folk - The Beautiful Game' mini stamp image, coloured using promarkers.  I went for a red kit, as, well to be honest, I'm rubbish at knowing who plays in what colour and probably had red card to hand.  Though I'm sure I did some research into the preferred team and chose accordingly...I just don't remember which team it was now!

Finally we get to the gorgeous dogs, I love the "lets have some fun" sentiment that came with the LOTV 'Little Critters - Jack Russell' set and I thought, as they are gift cards, the contents should hopefully involve having a fun time!  Finished off by combining with an off cut of sandy coloured card to mount the image, and a patterned back ground card in sepia and white with all things dogs love!

So now we've made it to the inside of the cards! Not knowing what kind of tickets/gift cards they were to hold, I decided to go for two punched tabs at the bottom to hold the tickets in place.  I used my 'We R Memory Keepers' Envelope Notcher Punch to create the tabs and tested using an old gig ticket and a credit card.  I tried to punch the tabs so that they could hold either type of ticket/gift card.

A little longer than anticipated post for you today, well done and thank you if you made it to the end!

I have some pretty exciting plans on the horizon that I hope to share with you very soon once I've got my head around it all.  However, in the meantime, I have a couple of sympathy cards, and some more pics to transfer from camera to computer to share on the up coming posts, so come back soon for those!

Wishing you all a HAPPY EASTER, enjoy the long weekend...and the chocolate!

Heffalumps and...coffee!

What a gorgeous weekend it has been so far, having spent yesterday horse riding (not falling off this time!) and watching our team win at the football, I decided this morning was a good time to update the blog!

So, two gorgeous cards for you today, first up is a 6"x4" ivory card, featuring Lili of the Valley's Jasmine - Coffee stamped on to a hammered ivory card from the Papermill shop, coloured using Promarkers,  and the long Happy Birthday Block Sentiment.  The 'tea and cake' glittered paper is from the trimcraft helz-cuppleditch The London Line designer paper pack, this has to be my favourite design from this pack!

Next is a mottled grey DL card, featuring a trio of Lili of the Valley stamps...but not all from one trio set!  The Happy Birthday sentiment this time is from the Happy Circular Sentiments (Set 8) whilst the big elephant is from the Little Critters - Faraway Friends mini stamp set and the little elephant is from the Elephant Trio release, all again coloured using Promarkers.  I love how cute these little elephants are, and combining with the mini stamp makes it look like it could be mother and baby!

In this case however, I did add 'Sister' underneath the big elephant as it was for a colleague's big sister's birthday. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo with the addition, but it was from the Someone Special (Set 93) sentiment set.  The pretty pink stripey paper is from Lili of the Valley & NitWit Collections Bear Necessities paper pad, wish I'd managed to buy more before they stopped making them!

Well, that's all for now, come back for the next update soon, which will showcase a few 30th birthday ticket/gift cards.  Enjoy the sun, while it lasts!

Sun, Sea, Sand...and a Sports Car!

A fast car (possibly) for a quick update!  I actually rather love this card, if I do say so myself!

The image, mounted on foam pads to add some depth, is Lili of the Valley - Vintage Car which I coloured in using various promarkers, very pleased with how it turned out! The backing papers are actually from the Me to You Happy Jolly Christmas 6" x 6" Premium Paper Pack.  I picked this combination of papers as I thought since I'd coloured the car in red, and the image shows a beach, the red checked paper looked like it could be a picnic rug, and the sandy texture to the paper below it could be the sand on the beach!  The Happy Birthday sentiment is another LOTV Block Sentiment.

I'm off to dream about the sun, sea, and sand...roll on holiday time!  Back soon with more Birthdays, Mother's day, Sympathies, and gift cards!

"When words escape, flowers speak"

So, a few days may have turned into nearly a month...Sorry about that!

To kick off the first of the few birthday cards posts are two cards I made for my parents' birthdays in February.

First up was my mum's birthday and, as her favourite flower is the beautiful daffodil, what better stamp to use than the LOTV Spring Bunny with Daffs, coloured using Letraset promarkers. To finish the card and add a little dimension, I added a row of dots down the fold side of the card using liquid pearls (daffodil yellow, of course), and a strip of white lace ribbon to the right.

Next up, the card I made for my dad, a keen gardener!  The image on this card is from the LOTV art pads, unfortunately I don't think these are still available, and the sentiment "with Lots of Love" is from their set 93 Someone Special, stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia.  The image is mounted on red card, and paper from the Dovecraft Curiosity Corner 6" x 6" designer paper pack.

So, that's all for today, I'll get working on the next post as soon as possible so please continue to check back :)
