Let It Go! Let it Go!

Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore

Are you all singing it now? hahahaha blame the Craftwork Cards Frozen Forest collection! Every time I think of this collection I can't help but think of the film and Let it Go springs into my mind! Well this Christmas, I've only made four cards from this kit, but there will most definitely be more to come for Christmas 2017!

Using stickles Frosted Lace glitter glue I've added the glistening snowy effect below the tree.
On the next two cards I used stickles Star Dust glitter glue to add a frosty finish to the snowflakes and candi.

Look out for more Frozen Forest cards next Christmas :)

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year's Eve - time to let 2016 go and welcome in a better 2017!

IT'S CHRISTMAS...well, it was!

Jenny and James 2016 Collection

Today I'm sharing a small selection of the Jenny and James 2016 Collection, I love these bears and papers - Hope you do too! Stamps and papers all from Lili of the Valley (well they were!)

Finally, one from last year - a gift card (and gift) for my better half ;)
Unfortunately this year's gift was not as well presented, as tickets haven't been sent out yet...they're also for an event in March - must remember Christmas is in December not March next year!

I'll be back tomorrow with a new collection to rival the frosty mornings we're experiencing!

Introducing Santa and the Penguins

May I introduce you to the LOTV Trios!

I have to confess, the first two of these cards were made last Christmas, so they may look familiar to a few of you ;) I forgot that my laptop died last year so I never got around to sharing them then! I actually made a number of the same designs as I loved them so much and once coloured and cut out they were quick and easy to assemble.

Papers on the above cards were from the Krafty Christmas and Classic Christmas LOTV & Nitwit paper pads.
I already miss these papers so much, you wouldn't believe!

The next one is a recent make (if using last year's supplies)!  When I'd signed up to the Stampin' Up "You can create it" challenge, I received a kit which included a grey card blank, grey string, stripy paper (which is actually double sided but I preferred the stripes), and the coloured enamel spots.  I added the LOTV Santa trios, coloured as before using promarkers.  If you take a closer look at the Santa in the chimney, you can just about make out that the snow is glittery - using stickles frosted lace this really gives a snowy effect.

You can follow my Handmade by Jenfie Board on Pinterest Here where you can see all published images of my cards from my blog.

Thanks for stopping by, there will be more Christmas cards on the next post so if you're not all Christmas'd out yet I'll see you there ;)

My Christmas Wish

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

It's been a while but I'm taking this opportunity to get back on top of the blog updates and will be sharing the "Handmade by Jenfie" Christmas cards of 2016 with you over the next few posts, so please keep checking back to see the different collections.

Today is the Krafty Christmas Robin collection.  I used the Krafty Christmas goodybag from Craftwork Cards to create these cards, only adding gold and red glitter card for some extra sparkle!  I love the little kraft robin, don't you?

Look out for more Christmas designs coming to the blog soon!

Birds & Blooms - Craftwork Cards Workshop

Back at the beginning of September, I made a last minute decision to attend a workshop at Craftwork Cards in Leeds.  I've been using their products for the past six years yet it was the first craft workshop I have ever been to!  I quickly realised I should probably have gone to workshops waaaay before now! I thoroughly enjoyed the morning with Jo and have come away with some lovely ideas and goodies to play with :D

I thought I'd share with you the projects we created on the day (not necessarily in the order we made them):

This card was made using a 6x6 blank, however we began by slicing the top inch off the card!  This created a strip which could then be used to make the step at the bottom of the card - I'd have never thought to do that! Decorated using the Birds & Blooms paper and toppers.  Mine ended up a little different to the design we were meant to be copying because I managed to stick my topper on upside down!! However, this did mean that it was a little of my own creativity sneaking through, and by leaving off the Happy Birthday sentiment it made a perfect Wedding Anniversary card for my parents! It was intentional really ;)

Next is another card using the Birds & Blooms collection.  The flower topper was cut out by hand and then tucked so that the leaves over hang the side panel.  I didn't quite finish this one as I didn't have time to add any glitter/liquid pearls and it be dry before we left.  It's now on my to-do pile to finish off :)

We also created some 3D projects.  Using distress ink we coloured three bird cage card fronts, and added liquid pearls and glitter to each.  I used White Opal liquid pearls and I think it was a denim blue ink.  Once the pearls had dried we attached each bird cage to one another using the little tabs on each side.  Then tied the tops together using white ribbon.  With a little artificial tea light candle in the middle these would made lovely table centerpieces.

Finally, we made a little bird house favour box.  I think this is just adorable!  The template was already cut out and patterned for you, we added a little heart attached with string to the heart window on one side.  On the roof the sentiment tag "With Love" was fixed with a ribbon and foam pads  (Thank you to Gill for rescuing me and tying the perfect bow for me!!)  Before the house was stuck together a hole was punched in the roof on the fold so that a hanging ribbon could be attached.

On the other side we added butterflies and birds.  You can just about see where the roof opens with velcro to get to the goodies inside (which are not in the favour box on the picture because I donated them to my other half!)

I had a wonderful morning, I am looking forward to booking to go on more workshops in the very near future!

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu

Time to move on, with an old and a new card for your viewing today!

Let's start at the beginning, (a very good place to start) it may have taken me a month after he moved in, but I eventually sent our new neighbour a new home card! I'm not sure if you can quite see in this picture, if you look closely at the clock face and the tv screen, I have used glossy accents to make them look like glass and shine in the light!

Next up, I was asked to make a leaving card for someone.  When I found out that their new job was for an international swimwear brand...I couldn't help myself but to create a "swimming" themed card:

Little Critters - Little Fishes

Well there you have it, I'll apologise now if you now have The Sound of Music stuck in your head as I do...

Time for Tea

Good Morning!

A one card update for you today as I am reaching the end of the photos of cards I've made this year and not already shared on the blog.  I need to get cracking and start making some more so I can keep up the regular blog updates!

So this one was made for my Sister's 25th (back in June!)

She is a tea drinker and so I thought this Tea Time image from LOTV was just perfect.  I didn't colour this one in this time though, it was from the art pad taster packs that they used to do so they did all the hard work for me!
I combined it with papers from the LOTV & NitWit Collections Bear Necessities paper pad.  Adding the Happy Birthday sentiment stamp from the Block Sentiments set and the number 25 from an old Craftwork Cards Die Cut Sentiments set.

That's all for now folks, thanks for stopping by, hope to be back soon!

Beer & Cakes - Time to Celebrate

Hello :)

Today I'm off to celebrate my Niece's 1st birthday! The last year has just FLOWN by! Before I go, as the name of the blog suggests, I have some Beer and Cake cards to share with you :)

I love the bottle shaped cards from Craftwork Cards, I saw them featured on Create & Craft TV AGES ago but never got around to buying any until the recent sale! I can't believe I didn't buy them sooner! I've combined them with their Take it easy collection, and the bottle tops worked much better than I expected - had to take a close up to show you the 3D-ness!

If you look closely you'll just be able to see that the for tops of the outside bottles I've used glossy accents to make it shine and stand out so that it looks like an opened bottle, whereas the middle one, I've layered up some candi then covered in glossy accents to make it look like the top is still on!

Take it easy - candi
Concertina bottle cards - kraft (also available in white at time of writing)

Beer done, now for cake - cupcakes to be precise.  I cut these cards out using a cupcake shaped template with the fold at the top so that they can stand up on their own.  They are decorated with patterned paper for the bun cases, and candi for the sprinkles on top! I've used sentiments from both Craftwork Cards and LOTV for these cards.  Look out for the glitter on the last one ;)

(I used Very Merry Silver, Notting Hill, Westminster, and Covent Garden Candi but you can use any!)

I hope you love these cards as much as I do!

Right time to go, see you again soon!

Bunches of Love...and a few crosswords for good measure

Hello :)

Welcome to the third edition of missing card updates!

This time I'm boring you (hopefully not too much) with multiple cards of the same(ish) designs having tried my hand at batch making for simple and "quick" cards, many of which are on sale at Chatsworth Beauty Therapies.

I have also done a few for the dads with a crossword design for Father's day and Dad's Birthday but I intend to make a few more that are blank or with other wording... maybe with some clues to fill it in yourself on receipt? we'll see!

The stamps for these cards, would you believe, were NOT from Lili of the Valley! Unfortunately, I can't actually remember where I picked them up, possibly Hobbycraft, or The Range, or they were kindly donated to me...Sorry if you like them and wanted to know where to purchase this time!

I couldn't do a blog update without sharing a card or two with some LOTV images so here's my final three cards for today:

The Images of the below two were from the Wild Flowers Art Pad but I can't seem to find this on the LOTV website so wonder if they have now been discontinued :( The sentiment on the first is actually from Craftwork Cards, link below.

Thank you for dropping by, if you made it this far then I obviously haven't bored you too much and maybe you will come back for the next installment ;)

Until then,

Four Legged Friends

Hello :)

So, last weekend I managed to update my blog (yay!), go horse riding for the second time in 15 years (yay!), and smash my phone screen (booo).  I guess if I was superstitious I would have blamed the fact that "it was the 13th after all"...but I'm not, being that I have two black cats who are constantly crossing in front of me!

As a side note, for anyone in the Chesterfield (Derbyshire, UK) area of the country interested in learning to horse ride I cannot recommend Poplar Farm in Duckmanton enough! They can be found on Facebook or call them on 01246 826424.

On the mention of horses, and cats, this leads me onto my latest batch of cards to share with you - a selection featuring our four legged friends of all varieties:

Stamps are all from Lili of the Valley and can be found here:

Thanks for stopping by, hope to be back soon :)
